Family Emotional Wellness Center

Nurturing Minds, Strengthening Families

At the Family Emotional Wellness Center (FEWC), we are dedicated to advancing mental health and emotional resilience in underserved communities. Through psychotherapy, specialized perinatal care, psychiatric treatment, and precise medication management, we address systemic disparities with culturally informed solutions. By fostering emotional well-being and supporting individuals, couples, and families to overcome life’s challenges, we strengthen the foundation for healthier and more resilient communities.

Our

Mission

Our mission is to create a safe, welcoming space where individuals, couples, and families can explore, heal, and grow on their mental health journeys. We are deeply committed to ensuring every client feels supported and guided throughout their healing process.

Our

Vision

We envision a future where families across the District of Columbia are inspired to thrive authentically. In our vision, cultural diversity is celebrated, mental health is prioritized, and stigma no longer holds anyone back from seeking the care they need.

Our

Purpose

At the Family Emotional Wellness Center, our purpose is to bridge the gap in mental health care for underserved communities, especially families of color. We provide timely, compassionate support to help these families access the resources they need to build a brighter, healthier future.

We are committed to driving equitable perinatal mental health outcomes across the DMV and beyond. Our mission is to reduce the rates of undiagnosed and untreated mental health conditions in BIPOC communities, working toward preventing suicidal and homicidal ideation, loss of daily functioning, income instability, and, most critically, the loss of life.

Services

Psychotherapy, often called “talk therapy,” is a collaborative process that provides individuals, couples, and families with a safe space to explore their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. At FEWC, our licensed therapists tailor therapy sessions to meet each client’s unique needs, helping them build resilience, navigate life’s challenges, and enhance their overall mental well-being.

Becoming a parent is transformative—bringing joy, but often unexpected emotional challenges. At FEWC, we specialize in supporting parents through pregnancy, childbirth, and postpartum with services designed for moms, dads, and LGBTQ+ couples. Whether facing postpartum depression, anxiety, or other mood disorders, our perinatal mental health team is here to ensure you feel seen, heard, and supported every step of the way.

We provide comprehensive psychiatric care with both on-site appointments twice a month and flexible telehealth sessions. Our psychiatrists conduct thorough mental health assessments, create personalized treatment plans, and provide consistent follow-up care to ensure clients receive the ongoing support they need to thrive.

Effective medication management is a collaborative effort between our psychiatrists and clients. We prioritize the safe and informed use of medications as part of an individualized mental health plan. By working closely with each client, we ensure that medications deliver meaningful benefits while minimizing side effects, supporting their overall mental health goals.
